Best butcher apprentice in Germany 2022

Our colleague JOE TROMMER has been named one of the best young craftsmen in Germany. In the performance competition of the German skilled crafts "Profis leisten was" (PLW), he was crowned the 1st national winner of his profession on 09 December 2022 in the Schwabenhalle in Augsburg. Craft president Hans Peter Wollseifer congratulated personally and showed himself confident for the craft professions despite the difficult times but in view of the "top performances of the new generation". The congratulators also included Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder and State Secretary for Education Jens Brandenburg. Under the current patronage of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the PLW has been honoring the best of the best from more than 130 trades every year since 1951 to become the top young talent.

Joe had previously beaten off numerous competitors in the Thuringian Performance Competition and emerged as the state winner under the critical eye of a jury of experts on November 25, 2022. It was only in September that the East Thuringia Chamber of Skilled Crafts released him as a journeyman. Together with his trainer, master butcher Peter Schreiber, he creates meat and sausage products for conference and vacation guests every day in our hotel's own butcher shop. Hotel director Marco Lange proudly emphasized what a "top performance [Joe's] dedication and creativity represent, especially in these extraordinary times." "I am thrilled and congratulate him from the bottom of my heart," he said at the festive tribute on December 12, 2022, to which representatives from politics, the press, radio and television as well as long-standing partners were also invited. Trommer's achievements are also a contribution to underlining the importance of apprenticeships.

We are mighty proud of his achievement and all the more delighted that he will continue to inspire guests with his delicacies as part of our team.
